What is a Conscious, Purpose-Driven Brand?
I’m not shy about being on a mission to support conscious, purpose-driven brands. As a philosopher, serial entrepreneur, and social impact advisor, it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to help y’all build 6 & 7 figure brands with a conscience.
I’m here to support brands whose leaders identify as movers and shakers, thought leaders, change-makers, and innovators. Whether you have a personal or business brand, the Purpose-Powered Profits journey is all about leveraging wealth to design equitable present-futures.
I do, however, realize that “conscious, and purpose-driven” are both incredibly subjective terms. So, I wanted to take a second to let you know what they mean to me.
A conscious, purpose-driven brand is a business that places a strong emphasis on its values and mission, and seeks to make a positive impact on the world through its products, services, and operations.
Such brands typically operate with a clear purpose. They want to make a profit and a difference. Therefore, they actively strive to address social, political, environmental, or other issues that align with their values. They may also prioritize ethical and sustainable practices in their supply chains, and be transparent about their impact on people, nonhuman species, and the planet.
Conscious, purpose-driven brands may explicitly identify as soul-driven, healing, decolonial, feminist, creative, eco-conscious, cooperative, or socially responsible. They’re heart-centered and willing to let us all know what they truly care about! More importantly, they’re not all talk and no action. Purpose-driven brands bake social responsibility into the foundation of their lives and companies.
Conscious, purpose-driven brands also strive to connect with their customers on a deeper level, creating emotional resonance and building loyalty through shared values and a sense of community. They may leverage storytelling and other forms of communication to convey their purpose and inspire others to join their mission.
Saje Sanctuary in St. Thomas, Seventh Generation, Toms Shoes, and Rothy’s are a few examples of conscious, purpose-driven brands that many of us know and love.
